The School of Energy, Construction and Environment brings together the disciplines affecting the natural and built environment, using synergies that link the understanding of the natural environment and its resources in the production of the physical built environment and its possible impact on the natural environment. Programmes focus on disciplines that lead to employability within the following subject areas: Civil Engineering, Building, Geography and Environment, Disaster Management and Humanitarian Engineering, and Oil, Gas and Energy.

Courses benefit from the synergy between the different subject areas within in the School. Programmes focus on disciplines that lead to employability within the following subject areas:

Our courses make full use of the extensive facilities available to students, as laboratory work is a core aspect of the courses. In addition, our students have opportunities to go on a wide range of UK and international field trips, so that they can undertake learning in the ‘field’ and replicate industry practice. In addition, our students also have use of the UK’s only simulation centre, using semi-immersive virtual reality to deliver key employability skills.

We also have extensive industry links including: Asia Disaster Preparedness Centre, Oxfam, Lloyds Register, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Environment Agency, Forestry Commission, Severn Trent Water, Atkins and many more.
