Definition: 

The engineering related to building and is associated with general technical training under the term of Building Engineering. The term Architectural Engineering is more frequently used in the United States. The terms Building/ Construction Management are also commonly used but, is by their nature a more generic terms.


What do they do?

The profession of Building Engineering and the career paths open to the Building Engineer. Role Definition: By definition this is multi-faceted with a myriad of tasks and duties associated with it. Essentially a building engineer deals with everything from the design of the construction project to being on hand during the daily construction activities, to ensure that everything is going according to plan. Depending on the particular project involved, the role of the building engineer can vary enormously although there can also be a great deal of continuity between jobs, especially if the engineer concerned is a specialist in one particular area.


What specific activities do they undertake?

Design and preparation of plans Remedial works Dilapidation schedules/ negotiations Site inspections and certification of works The repair and maintenance of buildings Energy auditing and energy performance certificates Measured survey of land and buildings Advice on energy-saving designs Access audits Rehabilitation of properties Conservation Construction management Quantity surveying  Fire safety and health and safety Demolition Negotiating, obtaining and implementing grants and claims Building variations Building inspections and surveys Advice on building law/party wall issues. 

 

What jobs can I apply for?

Building Engineers are professionals working in the built environment. They deal with innovation and the technology of construction, specialising in a number of areas as: Building Control Surveyors Architectural Technicians Building Surveyors Facilities Managers Fire Engineers 

 

Two other very strong options: Self-employment Financial services 

 

Where can I work?

Anywhere with a liberalised professional service structure. that with a similar system In terms of education or professional training, currently this university title exists in UK, France, Italy, Australia, Canada, USA, Malaysia and more recently Spain. Other routes do exists such as as a specialty or discipline within the civil engineering degree. Furthermore, it is also appears frequently as a double degree of Architect-Engineer Building, as in Italy, Japan and South Korea. In most developed countries, and especially in reference European countries, including Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, these different pathways in the academic studies coexist simultaneously.
